Nate
I’ve been tutoring A-Level Chemistry for six years, mostly with students who understand the theory but lose marks when applying it. I spend quite a lot of time on organic mechanisms, equilibria and those awkward multi-step calculations. Lessons usually involve a short recap followed by past-paper questions, which we pick apart together. I also keep a running list of recurring mistakes so we know exactly what needs another look before the exam.

Hi! I’m a Chemistry graduate and have been tutoring A-Level Chemistry alongside my postgraduate studies for the past three years. Organic chemistry is probably my favourite part to teach, especially once students realise the mechanisms aren't as random as they first appear. I’m fairly relaxed in lessons and happy to stop on one question for as long as needed. Nearer exams, we switch heavily towards timed papers and mark schemes.

Before moving into private tutoring, I worked in an analytical laboratory, so I particularly enjoy the practical side of A-Level Chemistry. I have taught the course for eight years and often work with Year 13 students preparing for their final papers. My lessons are quite methodical: identify the gap, revisit the chemistry behind it, then test it with exam questions. Practical techniques and data analysis are areas I’m especially comfortable teaching.

Chemistry didn’t come naturally to me at school, which is probably why I’m patient when a student says, “I just don’t get this topic.” I’ve now tutored A-Level Chemistry for four years and tend to use sketches, worked examples and lots of questions rather than long explanations. Amount-of-substance calculations are a regular request, as are electrode potentials. I normally ask students to send me the topic beforehand so we can get straight into it.

My background is in chemical engineering, and I started tutoring A-Level Chemistry while I was still at university. Seven years later, I still enjoy the problem-solving side of the subject most. I’m quite direct about exam technique: we look at why an answer missed a mark and what wording or working would have earned it. Physical chemistry tends to be my speciality, particularly equilibrium, kinetics and thermodynamics, where small errors can quickly add up.

Audrey
Hello, I’m a Chemistry tutor with just over two years of one-to-one teaching experience. Because I finished my own studies fairly recently, I still remember which parts of A-Level Chemistry felt unnecessarily confusing at first. I like turning long topics into shorter chunks, then checking them with a few carefully chosen questions. Spectroscopy is a favourite of mine, and I’m also very happy going through organic synthesis routes until the patterns start to make sense.
